David Bowie Turns 60!
This post hardly fits in with my other posts; it’s not really about AdSense, my work or technology. Although saying that, Mr Bowie was a bit of a pioneer in the early days of the Internet.
He was the first artist to have his own newsgroup (1988) and his use of email during his Serious Moonlight tour of 1983 spring to mind (not sure who he was emailing though, himself?).
He also broke new ground in 1996 when he released an Internet only single "Telling Lies."
He set up BowieNet as an ISP back in 1998 and on it set up an online song writing contest which resulted in the song “What’s Really Happening” on his ‘hours…’ album (anyone could submit lyrics to the backing track, complete with “la la la’s” – and he was to pick the final winner – Alex Grant)
My Favourite 5 Bowie Albums
Of course, in no particular order!
- Diamond Dogs (1974)
- Earthling (1997)
- Heathen (2002)
- Young Americans (1975)
- The Man Who Sold The World (1971)
Happy Birthday David!
