Watch Live Football On Your PC – FREE

The new football (Soccer) season kicks off in England today.

Blackpool Kit 2007/2008The wait is finally over and, due to last years glorious play off final win, my team (Blackpool) will start the season in the Championship - their highest level of football for 20 years.

As I’m in a football mood I thought I’d let unaware readers in on the fact they can watch a lot of games broadcast throughout the world online, and for free. Including a lot of Premier League, Champions League and UEFA cup games.

Where Can I Watch Live Football?

There are a number of free football sites with schedules of upcoming games. My personal choice would be Live-Footy.org.

The site gives you a list of upcoming matches. To view the game click you must click on the 'Stream' link. This will give you a bit more information on the software required for you to watch that particular match.

In most cases, the software you'll need will be 'SopCast' which can be downloaded from the SopCast website. Alternatively, you might find that the SopCast website is very slow, so it's worth noting that the 'Stream' page (on Live-Footy.org) generally contains alternative, often faster, download links.

Once you've installed the required software you'll probably have to restart your browser.

Now you should be able to watch the games from your PC - in a browser window or in Windows Media Player by clicking the 'External Window' button(in the bottom right hand corner).

MP3 Worm Virus - Deletes Your MP3's

If you see this, don’t download and run itNews of the virus W32.Deletemusic has been doing the rounds recently and has gotten conspiracy theorists all excited.

It’s a virus that searches your hard drive and any other attached devices for MP3 files and immediately deletes them.

The first instance of the virus was spotted only a couple of weeks ago with an anonymous infectee declaring “Oh god, it’s taken me 30 days, 24/7, to download all those albums” – poor bloke.

Symantec says the threat level is low and removal easy so I can't see it being too much of a problem, interesting concept though.

So, was the virus created by the RIAA in response to declining music sales or by a spotty 15 year old who just hates the world? I guess we’ll never know.

Gig Lovers Update

Yet Another Gig Lovers Update!Things are really coming together behind the scenes. There's a lot of new things ready - just awaiting finishing touches - that should be added to the site within the next week.

I've always disliked how the 'Gig Details' page is set out. I didn't think [for starters] that there was enough information on there regarding the venue and where it is so I'm now using the Google Maps API to display the venue's whereabouts. My work for the next couple of days will be entering venue information (addresses) for the [goes to check] 3,807 venues in the database. (Oh what fun!)

Other additions to the 'Gig Details' page include a new date display (like I have here on this blog) and Flickr integration - so if there are any photos from a particular gig on Flickr they'll be displayed on the 'Gig Details' page.

Aside from the new 'Gig Details' page I integrated YouTube videos on the band ages last week but have decided to remove them for the time being until I get the new 'Gig Details' page up and running.

Blog Update

As I mentioned a couple of days ago I'd been neglecting this blog and have decided to get back in to the swing of things.

New Design

I worked on a new design for an hour or so in Photoshop then spent a few hours yesterday putting it together as a WordPress theme. It's still a bit 'dodgy' in places but any issues shall be sorted out over the coming weeks. I'm not sure about the order of the sidebar items but I suppose that'll improve with time.

"Posts Posts, There Are Never Any Posts"

Well you should see an improvement from now on. I'm going to try and post at least once a day so we shall see how that goes but don't worry, I'll try and make the posts half decent ;)

Top Commentators

I've added the 'top commentators' plugin (I always want to type commenters) so hopefully I'll see some sort of interaction going on and it's a bit of a reward for anyone taking the time to read and comment.

Neglect

This blog has been neglected.

I've been thinking, this past couple of weeks, what to do with it. I've decided I'm going to start blogging regularly because I need a bit of variation in my online work.

Anyway, I've just spent a couple of hours knocking up a new design - it's getting there - you can see my results so far below.

You're now able to see the results on the site here.

There's obviously still more work to be done, but the general feel is okay. I don't want to spend more than another couple of hours "designing" it because the real work is in the coding. Guess this will be my first custom WordPress theme. (I'd used K2 previously)
