Bad 'SEO' in action

Check this domain out:

http://www.elizabeth-chalmers-calgary-real-estate-condominiums-condos-home.com/

What the? Talk about stuffing keywords in the domain name, haha. Who could be bothered to type that one out, would it even fit on a business card?

This reminded me of another site I discovered yesterday: Bootmoney (Which is an amusing spoof of the popular ShoeMoney)

Maybe Elizabeth Chalmers has been reading the Bootmoney post 'domain name picking'

Check Your Website Design In Different Browsers

As regular readers will know I'm close to finishing my latest project and so I've been testing it across multiple browsers on my PC: IE7, Firefox and Opera.

However, I don't have access to web browsers running on Linux or a Mac.

This is where browsershots.org comes in, it.

"Browsershots makes screenshots of your web design in different browsers. It is a free open-source online service created by Johann C. Rocholl. When you submit your web address, it will be added to the job queue. A number of distributed computers will open your website in their browser. Then they will make screenshots and upload them to the central server here."

A very handy free tool.

Supported browsers/operating systems:

  • Linux: Dillo 0.8, Epiphany 2.14, Epiphany 2.16, Firefox 1.5, Galeon 2.0, Iceweasel 2.0, Konqueror 3.5, Mozilla 1.7, Opera 9.2, Opera 9.10
  • Windows: Firefox 1.5, IE5, IE5.5, IE6, IE7
  • Mac: Firefox 2.0, Safari 2.0

Visit browsershots.org.

TrafficEye: Realtime UK Traffic and Accident Map

Today I stumbled upon TrafficEye.co.uk.

It gives you, via Microsoft’s excellent Virtual Earth, a real time map of traffic congestion, roadworks and other key incidents. I'd previously mentioned how I prefer Virtual Earth over Google Earth - it's the bird's eye view maps that do it!

Back on topic: TrafficEye lets me know, for example, that the traffic lights are out on Blackpool’s Central Drive and traffic is reduced to one lane and it also tells me there appears to be traffic issues due to a suspected accident on the M6 (surprise surprise).

The data is coming direct from TrafficLink who are the UK’s leading provider of real-time traffic and travel information.

I think it’s very well implemented, better so than the Google Earth ‘version’ that was announced earlier this week.

Vecosys have mentioned that there are plans for it to evolve into a mobile application and the next version will contain real-time weather reports. TrafficEye is certainly something I'll be keeping MY eye on ;)

David Bowie Turns 60!

This post hardly fits in with my other posts; it’s not really about AdSense, my work or technology. Although saying that, Mr Bowie was a bit of a pioneer in the early days of the Internet.
